CUTS International, in association with The World Bank, is organising a half-day seminar on ‘Regional Energy Cooperation and Trade in South Asia’ on Tuesday, 17th May, 2016 in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The purpose of the seminar is to present and discuss the findings of a study on Regional Electricity Sector Cooperation in South Asia, a study undertaken by the World Bank. The objective of the study was to analyse potential benefits of increased regional electricity cooperation and extra-regional energy trade; to take stock of political economy and institutional issues that limit the scope for increased regional cooperation; and to identify potential steps forward toward greater integration of power systems in South Asia.
