Round Table Discussion on “Towards a Regulated Data Economy: Getting the Implementation Right

CUTS International in association with The Dialogue organised a roundtable discussion titled ‘Towards a Regulated Data Economy: Getting the Implementation Right’, to develop an insight into the key aspects of the Draft Personal Data Protection Bill 2018, along with an assessment of its scope, intent and implementability.

The discussion was held on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at Electronics & Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC) 155, Okhla Industrial Estate Phase 3 Rd, Okhla Phase III, Okhla Industrial Area, New Delhi-110020.

The aim of the Roundtable was to discuss and discern the fundamentals of data-driven ecosystem, intent and aspirations of the stakeholders’ vis-a-vis the proposed legal framework, regulatory and institutional architecture, and implementability thereof. The Roundtable invited views & suggestions from a multi-stakeholder community to submit them for consideration by the government in building the Indian data protection law and process of reforms in the interest of development of a strong and contextually relevant data protection framework.

The roundtable witnessed participation from law enforcement, government stakeholders, internet companies, public policy think tanks and global business strategy firms.
