CUTS International in collaboration with the CUTS Institute for Regulation and Competition (CIRC) organised a Roundtable discussion titled, “Design in India to Maximize 5G Opportunities” to deliberate upon the way forward for India to move up the global value chain from ‘manufacturing’ of ICT equipment to ‘designing’ of such equipment, in the context of the 5G ecosystem.
The discussion was held at Hotel Le Meridien, New Delhi on 30th November 2018.
Considering the cruciality of 5G technology and its immense developmental potential for India, the primary objective behind the Roundtable was to deliberate upon and carve out a way forward vis-à-vis incentivising investments, developing skillsets required for core Research and Development (R&D) and identifying the India-specific challenges and opportunities vis-a-vis the 5G technology.
The event saw participation from a diverse set of stakeholders including the government, industry, subject-experts, academia, legal practitioners, civil society and the media.
