The scope of the study will include:
- A closer look at the nature of cartels that came up before the competition authorities in select jurisdictions, evidence collected in each case, decision taken by the authority or the court, and the final decision in higher courts, if the matter went for appeal.
- An attempt to bring out commonalities as well as differences in approaches to maximise the learnings. For instance, cement industry is known to be prone to cartelisation world over, and several cases of cartelisation in cement industry have been tried in several countries.
- Make comparisons of similar cases of cartels taken up by competition authorities of various countries to look for commonalities and differences
