Need For Effective Laws to Evolve Better Markets in West Africa – 7Up4 Project Launch Meetings

CUTS Centre for Competition, Investment and Economic Regulation (CUTS CCIER) organised a two day meeting in collaboration with Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER), Ghana on June 19-20, 2008 at Accra, Ghana to launch the regional project entitled ‘Strengthening Constituencies for Effective Competition Regimes in Select West African Countries’ (also referred to as the 7Up4 project http://www.cuts-ccier.org/7up4/En/index.htm) on competition policy & law issues in seven countries of West Africa (Viz. – Burkina Faso, The Gambia, Ghana, Mali, Nigeria, Senegal and Togo.

The launch meeting brought together CUTS partner organisations (selected from the project countries), international experts, regional authority representatives and representatives from international organisations to discuss relevant issues on competition in the project countries and region, and fine tune the project implementation strategy.
