CUTS Centre for Competition, Investment & Economic Regulation (CUTS CCIER) and CUTS Calcutta Resource Centre (CUTS-CRC) alongwith West Bengal Electricity Regulatory Commission (WBERC) had organised a Roundtable Discussion on ‘Evolving consumer friendly policies to enhance access to Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency’ in Kolkata, West Bengal on Wednesday, August 22, 2012.
The meeting was organised to initiate a multi-stakeholder dialogue on the need and importance of effective implementation of renewable energy policy in West Bengal. The purpose was also to educate the participants about renewable energy policy & facilitate discussion between policy makers/stakeholders.
Relevant policy makers, such as the Department of Power, Government of West Bengal; West Bengal Electricity Regulatory Commission (WBERC); West Bengal Renewable Energy Development Agency (WBREDA), Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission (GERC) actively participated in the meeting. Representatives from distribution companies, industry associations, academia, professionals in the area of RE, media, civil society organisations, local partners and representative from funding agency also participated in the meeting.
