Launch of pilot project on Business Regulation and Corporate Conduct

CUTS through its various interventions aspires to make economic progress in India, efficient, inclusive and responsible. It is our endeavour to create an environment and capacity in India to foster growth that is hurdle-less and well integrates elements of sustainable development. It is with this goal in mind that CUTS has launched the ‘EXPLORING THE INTERPLAY BETWEEN BUSINESS REGULATION AND CORPORATE CONDUCT IN INDIA’ (BRCC Project). The main goal of this project is to explore ways in which industrial promotion or business development can be undertaken in the country in a sustainable manner, so that the benefits (economic, environmental and equitable) accrue to the society at large.

The first activity of this project was to gather inputs from various stakeholders of how business development and corporate conduct can co-exist in India. These aspects was discussed at a meeting held in

New Delhi on 21st April 2011

. Scholars, practitioners and specialists from India and abroad presented their views on various elements of business regulation/development, corporate governance and responsible business conduct in this event.
