CUTS International is organising a focused group discussion (FGD) on impact assessment of debt recovery laws in India, as a part of its project on facilitating adoption of impact assessment framework in India, being supported by British High Commission.
The FGD is being organised on Tuesday, 23 December 2014, in Mumbai.
The FGD will comprise a brief presentation on the subject setting out the research undertaken, initial findings and issues for discussion. A roundtable discussion amongst industry representatives, sector experts, market participants, and academia, et al, on the challenges in debt recovery and way ahead, will ensue. Discussion is expected to cover issues like sub-optimal legislative provisions making debt recovery difficult, revenue losses and huge opportunity costs, and possible legislative alternatives to improve the situation. The session will close with interaction with stakeholders and professionals in banking and finance.
