Need and Role of Regulators & Industry: Quality of Mobile Internet Services in India

CUTS Centre for Competition Investment and Economic Regulation is organising a meeting on Need and Role of Regulators & Industry: Quality of Mobile Internet Services in India to be held on Wednesday, 17th June, 2015 at Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, Hauz Khas, New Delhi. The meeting timings are 1500hrs to 1800hrs followed by high tea.

IIT Delhi’s recent study, 2G/3G Internet Measurements in India focuses on collecting measurements from several rural and urban areas on the quality of service consumers get from different 2G/3G service providers. Performance data have been collected from service providers Idea, MTNL, Airtel and Reliance across rural and urban areas of Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and Delhi.

Under the mentioned study, CUTS has collaborated with IIT Delhi with the objective of creating awareness among consumer organizations, regulators, industry players, media, etc. on the issues of depleting mobile data quality and performance of service provider.

The purpose of this meeting is to disseminate the findings of the IIT study in order to generate space for dialogue between the regulators and service providers while focusing on the role they can play in ensuring good quality of service of mobile data services for consumers in India.
