CUTS Centre for Competition, Investment & Economic Regulation (CUTS CCIER) and VIKSAT, Nehru Foundation in partnership with Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission (GERC) is organising the Roundtable Discussion on ‘Promotion of Clean Energy Sources: Role of Policies & Regulations’ in Ahmedabad, Gujarat on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 to mark the Final Dissemination Meeting of CUTS project entitled ‘Demand Side Management and Renewable Energy in India: Capacity Building of CSO’s – DREC’, in Gujarat.

The purpose of the meeting is to share findings of a two year initiative (DREC) of CUTS in the State of Gujarat and West Bengal, supported by Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation, New Delhi. The roundtable discussion will also focus on vital role of policy and regulation in the development of clean energy sources and challenges and constrains faced by consumers and policymakers; and translating policies/regulations into action.

Relevant policymakers, such as the Ministry of Power, Gujarat; GERC; Gujarat Energy Development Agency (GEDA); West Bengal Electricity Regulatory Commission (WBERC), from another Project State; Distribution Companies, Industry Associations, Academia, Professionals in the area of clean energy, Media, Civil Society Organisations, Local Partners and representative from Funding Agency are expected to participate in the meeting.
